Lest We Forget
(A Reminder To Those Who Hold The Torch)
Yea, though a hundred years we here lie,
We still weep for overhead do fly,
Planes dropping bombs from every nation,
Weary soldiers guard sentry’s station,
Munitions are built, mortars still roar,
War’s horror still stands at mankind’s door,
Yet, each year our solemn vow you keep,
As here beneath foreign ground we sleep,
To recall valour and blood we let,
As you speak that the world not forget,
The freedoms fought for so long ago,
The silent crosses which stand row on row,
Here in Flanders Field
